Birds in Your Backyard

Ages 3 and up

Chickadees, blue jays, and cardinals are some birds we see in our backyards in the winter! We will learn about these birds by making bird feeders and binoculars, filling out a Birdwatching Tally Sheet, creating bird crafts, and reading bird books. Register for one or all four!

Jan. 7: We will learn about birds we might see in our backyard by playing Bird Bingo, reading a book about birds, and making a paper towel bird feeder. You will also get a Bird Tally Sheet to keep track of the birds you see!

Jan. 14: We will continue to learn about birds by making paper towel roll binoculars (so we can observe the birds in your bird feeder), read a book about birds, and play another game of bird bingo!  We will also have a chance to share birds we have added to our Birdwatching Tally Sheet.

Jan. 21: We will dive deeper into the world of birds pretending to be a bird! We will use playdough, Sticks, leaves, grasses, and feathers to make a bird nest. We will also read a book on birds and share what birds we have added to our Birdwatching Tally Sheets.

Jan. 28: We will show what we have learned about birds by making birds of our own. We will use varying shapes and colors to make a bird of your choosing- a chickadee, cardinal, bluejay… We will also read a book about birds.
