WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) is a free program providing nutrition and health care information and services to women and children. WIC nutritionists use their expertise to combine WIC benefits with client’s health goals, through nutrition planning, assessing supplemental food needs, breastfeeding support, immunization checks, health screenings and referrals.
WIC’s goal is to help keep pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and children under age 5 as healthy as possible. Our staff includes nutritionists and breastfeeding support counselors who are here to provide education and resources for young families. To apply for WIC at CHP, please visit our office at 442 Stockbridge Rd, Great Barrington or call (413) 528-0457.
WIC provides:
- A WIC card loaded with free healthy food
- Tips for eating well to improve health
- Breastfeeding support
- Nutrition and health workshops and cooking classes
- Farmer’s Market checks
- Referral to other area services
WIC is for all families: married and single parents (mothers or fathers), foster parents, grandparents, working or not working. All are welcome. To apply online CLICK HERE.
You can participate in Berkshire South WIC if:
- You live in Massachusetts
- You are a primary caregiver for child/children under 5 years of age
- You are a pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding mother
- Have a family income that meets WIC guidelines.

Using your WIC food benefits is now faster, easier and more convenient than ever. WIC transactions are made with a benefit card similar to using a debit or credit card.
Massachusetts WIC has a mobile app! WIC Shopper allows you to check your benefits, scan barcodes for approved foods, find approved store locations and even download yummy recipes.
